Visits between 23 February and 1 March 2009 to Universities in Turkey and Syria

Information on visits between 23 February and 1 March 2009 to Universities in Turkey and Syria paid by prof. Lachezar Dimitrov, Rector of NSA and prof. Petar Bankov, scientific consultant at the International Scientific Centre.

Objectives and agendas of the visits:

1. University of Gaziantep, Turkey – A contract was signed between NSA, represented by prof. Lachezar Dimitrov, PhD and the University of Gaziantep, represented by prof. Dr. Uavuz Koskun, PhD. The contract was signed at Gaziantep University /having 59 000 full-time students and 16 500 extramural students / in the presence of the Vice-Rectors of the university. The ceremony was broadcasted by a local TV channel.

During its visit the NSA delegation received warm reception by the governor of Gaziantep province /with population of 1,750, 000/ - Mr. Suliman Kamzi and the mayors of the two regions leading in terms of population, economic and social growth.

The representatives of the University of Gaziantep expressed their readiness for intensifying their cooperation with the NSA in terms of educating professionals in Master and Doctor degrees, participating in scientific conferences, exchanges etc.

The main organizer of the agenda was Hadji Mura Shahin – Director of Security Directorate, who is currently having doctoral studies at the NSA ‘Vassil Levski’ with director of studies prof. Yordan Kalaikov. The latter has gained respect in the area and has been actively trying to attract more local youngsters to study at the NSA.

2. Tishreen University, Latakia, Syria – At the meeting with prof. Mohamed Muala, PhD, rector of the university, a draft contract for cooperation with NSA was presented. The key articles concerned the following issues: admission of students in Master’s and Doctoral degrees, methodical support for establishment of Coach faculty at Tishreen University, development and implementation of Master’s program, participation in scientific conferences, expansion of the opportunities for publication on the pages of “Sport and Science” magazine, students and tutors exchange etc.

It was the first time when NSA representatives had visited the Tishreen University. There were colleagues who had defended their doctor’s dissertations at the NSA and had achieved impressive career afterwards: Whael Mouad / director of studies prof. P. Bankov, PhD/ and Anas Mutan /director of studies assoc. prof. Maya Nikolova, PhD/. Showing highly professional approach Mr. Whael Mouad was especially helpful with the accomplishment of our agenda.

There were other meetings with the Dean of the Coach faculty Ulfat Whatfm /graduated in Erevan and Kiev/, vice-deans and other members of the same faculty. Prof Lachezar Dimitrov, PhD, solemnly delivered the NSA placards to the Rectors of the two universities – of Gaziantep and Tishreen and to the governor of Gaziantep province.

In conclusion, the visits could be defined as timely and efficiently conducted at the prospect of potential opportunities for further development of our cooperation in preparing experts in the field of science, physical education and sport.
