Associated Professor, PhD and Wrestling coach in NSA - Sofia
Date of birth: 21.04.1947, Temenuga, Veliko Tarnovo, Bulgaria
Education - National Sport Academy/NSA/, Sofia – free – style wrestling

Sport carrier:
National junior champion and medalist of Men National championships of free-style wrestling. At the age 21 an elbow fracture has stopped his carrier.

Scientific carrier:

  1. 1979 – becomes an Assistant of free-style wrestling in Wrestling and Judo Departament at NSA, Sofia.
  2. 1984 – 1988 - Head of the Scientific research application laboratory of the National wrestling team – free style, greco-roman and judo.
  3. 1986 - Defense of his PhD study on the Upgrading in methodology of preparation of junior wrestlers and working out Biomechanical and mathematical models of the menagement of the preparation of wrestlers. Mr. Stanev receves the PhD degree in pedagogical sciences. Later he becomes an Associated Professor in NSA, Sofia.

Publications: 60 articles on the theory and practice of the wrestling in Bulgaria, Germany, Romania and athers. He publishes 5 books in free style wrestling and a manual for scientific support of the preparation of the national youth, adolescent and men teams in the free style wrestling and judo.

Coaching carierer:

  1. - 1978 - Coach of the Sport school junior team. Later one of his former wrestlers becomes European junior champion and world vice-champion, another takes third place in European championships.
  2. 1979 - 1982 - Head coach of the Students Sport club”Academic”, Sofia.The free style team becomes once a national champion and after they always take the prize places.
  3. - 1988 - Senior trainer of the junior free-style team of Bulgaria.During that period the wrestlers win 47 medals. Five juniors become European champions and 2 world champions.In 1985 the Bulgarian adolescent team wins 4 champion titles in the World Adolescent Championship in USA.
  4. 1987 - 1988 - Assistant of the Head trainer of the national men’s free style team. Personal coach of Simeon Shterev - world champion, Poumen Pavlov and Remzi Mussov - European champions and Valentin Jordanov – the greatest wrestler of the 20-th century - 7 times and European champion and Olimpic champion in Atlanta, 1996, Teodora Dimitrova – 5 place of European championat –2005.
  5. - Coach of the Germany national junior team 3 months.
  6. - Coach of the Peru national team - free and classical style. The team wins 9 golden medals in South America Games.
  7. 1997 –1998 - Menager of national junior team

  8. 2000 – 2002 - Prepared the Pakistan national wrestling team for SAF - Games, but because of the war in Afghanistan they were cancelled and I came back in Bulgaria /January – 2002/
  9. 2003 – National coach of University wrestling team
  10. 2004 – President of wrestling club” NSA – 2004”
  11. Holder of the title “Honored trainer of Bulgaria.”

Languages: Fluent English, Spanish, Germany and Russian.

The Bulgarian Wrestling Federation gives its agreement for Mr. Slavi Stanev to work as a coach abroad. All his biographical data from his competitive, pedagogical and scientific activities are true.
